Staying Calm and in Control Helps Me to Get Things Done

Being on my own was tough. When I got a divorce, I thought that I would be able to handle everything with flying colors. But I overestimated what it would be like to get through daily life. I guess everyone does that to some extent. But I was taking things a day at a time to tackle everything that needed to be done. Last week I called someone out to handle roof repair in Brooklyn NY for me, and that went pretty well. We had also had a really bad storm, and I needed to get new fencing and some other things done. I knew that I would make it through everything little by little.

Staying calm was something that my dad taught me. He said that no man can handle a storm if he is busy getting caught up in the storm itself and losing control. He was always a calm man himself, and I can see how it served him very well in life. He was this way at home and at work. He said that it is really easy for stress to take over and take away your peace. It can happen quickly, and you must remain in the present and get control over it in order to stop it from happening. You must take a deep breath, count to ten, and then slowly begin to move forward and tackle life again without letting anxiety or anger take over. It has helped me all of my life.

When the worst month for bad weather was coming, I worried and fretted about what would happen to my damaged roof. I finally realized that I made enough money to qualify for a loan, so that’s what I did. I had someone come out as soon as I received my loan. It was well worth every penny because of the peace of mind that it offered me in keeping my house safe and free of water and other damage.
